I. Tax Assistant Examination, 2009 Announced:
The Staff Selection Commission will hold on Sunday, the 13.12.2009 an open competitive Examination for recruitment to the post of Tax Assistant (a Group ‘C’ Non-Gazetted, Ministerial Post) in the Pay Band of Rs. 5200-20200 plus Grade Pay of Rs. 2400) for filling up vacancies in various Commissionerates of Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) and Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC). These vacancies are tentative and may be changed without notice. Age limit as on 30.10.2009: 20-27 years i.e. born not earlier than 31.10.1982 and not later than 30.10.1989 (for details on relaxation of upper age limit for SC/ST/OBC/Ex.S/PH/ Central Government Civilian Employees candidates etc, Para 4 of the Notice published in the Employment News dated 26 September – 2 October, 2009 may be referred to). Essential Qualifications: (i) Educational Qualification: Bachelors Degree from a recognized university as on 30.10.2009. (ii) Data Entry Speed: Should possess Data Entry Speed of 8,000 Key Depressions per hour on computer. Fee: Rs.100/- payable through ‘Central Recruitment Fee Stamps (CRFS)’ only, available at Post offices and to be pasted on the application form in the space provided. Note: Fee paid by any mode other than CRFS will be forfeited and the applications of such candidates will be summarily rejected. No fee is payable by women candidates and candidates belonging to SC/ST/PH and Ex.S (please refer to Para 9 of the Notice) Scheme of Examination: Part-I: Written examination carrying 300 marks having two papers: Paper-I: Objective Multiple Choice Type; 200 marks consisting (Part A) General English (100 marks)(Part B) General Awareness (100 marks); 2 hours 20 minutes for visually handicapped candidates and 2 hours for other candidates. Paper-II: Objective Multiple Choice Type; Arithmetic (100 marks). 2 hours 40 minutes for visually handicapped (VH) candidates and 2 hours for other candidates. Part-II: Skill Test (Qualifying). Data Entry Speed of 8000 key depressions per hour on computer. Centres of Exam: Bangalore, Dharwad, Gulbarga and Mangalore in Karnataka and Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi, Kozhikode and Thrissur in Kerala. Examinations will also be held at various other centers in different States all over India. Candidates should correctly select only one of the centres mentioned in Para 8 of the Notice and submit application only to the concerned Regional/Sub-Rgional office mentioned in the Notice. Application received in any other Regional / Sub-Regional office will be rejected summarily. Assistance of Scribe to the eligible visually andicapped candidates for this Regional shall be provided by the Commission only at Bangalore centre on submission of requisition form in the prescribed format (Annexure IX of the Notice ) with the application (Please refer Para 6 of the Notice).

The candidates applying for the examination should ensure that they fulfill all the eligibility conditions for admission to the examination as stipulated in the notice. Final Results of candidates who have qualified in the Central Police Organisations Examination, 2007 for recruitment of Sub-Inspectors and Section Officer (Audit), Examination, 2008 have been declared.
